Empowering Skills and Confidence through Y Enterprise

 At the Y Inclusion Services, we are dedicated to providing inclusive support programs that help individuals develop essential life skills and gain valuable work experience. Our Y Enterprise program is designed to nurture a passion for hospitality and children’s programs, offering participants the opportunity to work in real-world settings and build a foundation for future success.

Overview

The Y Enterprise program allows participants to develop life skills and gain hands-on experience working as kitchen hands and in children’s programs. Participants will learn critical skills such as food handling and preparation, cleaning, nutrition, setting up and packing up room activities, program development, and engaging with and nurturing children. This program is ideal for those passionate about hospitality and childcare, providing a supportive environment to develop and refine their skills.

Service Goals

Our service goals for Y Enterprise include:

  • Developing work skills: Participants will gain experience in both kitchen and childcare service settings.
  • Improving problem-solving skills: Real-world challenges will help enhance critical thinking and adaptability.
  • Daily living and life skills: Tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and basic administration will be covered.
  • Communication: Engaging with a wide range of customers, including children, families, and staff, will improve communication skills.
  • Technology use: Participants will get comfortable using various technologies.
  • Building confidence: Hands-on experience will help increase self-confidence and prepare participants for future opportunities.

Program Details

The Y Enterprise program is conducted at various Y Childcare Centres located in Mill Park, Doreen, and Diggers Rest. We offer transport services through a 1:1 support staff member to ensure accessibility for all participants. The program requires a minimum commitment of 10 weeks, starting from 11th July 2023. Sessions are held on weekdays from 9:30-11:30 am in kitchens and from 10:00 am-12:00 pm in childcare settings.
